The format remains the same, with three potential suitors answering the questions from an unidentified single behind a wall. Yet in this reboot, Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton host various celebrity suitors trying to find a connection on the other side of the infamous wall.

For some reason, though, this works in the context ofThe Dating Game; it’s such a silly show, that having a guy way underplaying the smarm seems to fit perfectly. It helps that he’s no longer the “no talent ass clown” referred to in Office Space,made “cool” by The Lonely Island a decade ago in the “Jack Sparrow” digital short. The set is a bit updated, but the feel of the show has the same kitsch that the original had, with one exception, which we’ll mention below.
‘The Celebrity Dating Game’: All the Famous Faces Looking for Love
This has to be the worst show ever made. Someone needs to check to see if Michael Bolton is still breathing. Never seen so many people on one show look like they would rather sink into a hole. The original “Dating Game” was first hosted by Jim Lange, who died in 2014 at the age of 81. Michael Jackson, Steve Martin and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others, appeared as contestants.
Totally a mismatch between zooey and michael, neither is witty in their responses to anyone. You really can’t blame the contestants for the things they say, but the hosts make the show in this genre and they don’t deliver at all. This show needs someone like Tom Bergeron who can bring out the best answers from the contestants and the best responses from the celebrities and make the show more interesting. Hosted Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton, “The Celebrity Dating Game” offers a wry wink at modern dating with a star-studded roster of celebrities in their pursuit to find love.
